In Case You Missed It: Life Lately & Latest Favorites

Anyone else completely forget that we lose an hour tonight like I did?  I’m always so torn with daylight savings because I hate to lose the hour but it’s one step closer to spring and I.am.ready!  Our Spring Cleaning Challenge is starting on April 1st and it’s going to be spread out over several weeks so it’s not overwhelming and is doable for any schedule.  So stay tuned for that. In the meantime let’s take a look at life lately and what you may have missed over the past couple of weeks.

Q:

What is the best oil to use in cleaning?

A:

I’m often asked if you can use olive oil in cleaning recipes or to shine stainless, polish wood and so on.  You actually want to avoid food oils like olive oil in DIY recipes or cleaning because it can go rancid.  What’s more, ever notice how olive oil comes in a dark or green bottle?  That’s because light impacts olive oil and can make it go rancid.  This is another reason why it’s not great for cleaning because once out of that dark bottle and on our surfaces it starts to go bad.  Years ago I was guilty of putting some in a DIY dusting spray and wow did that spray stink after a while.  I couldn’t figure out why until I realized it had gone rancid.

So what oils should you use? Stick with jojoba oil for wood furniture, mineral oil or baby oil for stainless steel, and a food grade mineral oil for cutting boards.

The Last Broom You’ll Need

Move over traditional brooms.  This new silicone option has all the same capabilities but has other uses around the home too including acting as a squeegee, scraping up pet hair, and more!

If you could only have one cleaner in your home Force of Nature is it! It can truly work all over and sanitizes and disinfects! Best yet it doesn’t contain any toxic chemicals and I have a discount code to save 40% on bundles (not counting the starter pack). A bundle gets you the machine and capsules (the machine converts the capsules into a cleaning solution) and spray, then from here on out all you need to replace are the capsules.
