Learn how to easily clean glass shower doors with this step-by-step guide. Remove soap scum, hard water stains, and grime using these simple tips and effective products.
Glass shower doors are stunning when clean but can quickly become an eyesore thanks to soap scum and hard water stains. If you’ve struggled to make your doors sparkle, I’ve got an amazing solution for you! In this post, I’m sharing the simple method that transformed my soap scum coated, cloudy glass shower doors into crystal clear beauties, plus the products I swear by to keep them looking like new.

How to Easily Clean Glass Shower Doors
Step 1: Assess the Damage
Start by taking a good look at your shower doors. Are they covered in soap scum, hard water stains, or both? For general cleaning, I love this cream cleaner by The Pink Stuff or a mixture of dish soap and vinegar (don’t use vinegar on tile or stone but its great on glass) in a soap dispensing brush.
If you have stubborn buildup however, you’ll need a cleaner that’s tough on grime but gentle on glass and for that I love this cleaner. I heard great things about it and had to test it myself and wow is it worth the hype!

Step 2: Apply the Cleaner
I do recommend wearing gloves with this just because it is a stronger cleaner. Generously apply the cleaner to the sponge ( I like to use a Scrub Daddy) and then apply to the glass without diluting with water. Coat the doors with it well and let it sit for a while to give it time to work and to break down the grime. I let mine sit for 30 minutes to an hour.

Step 3: Scrub and Rinse
Once it’s sat for a while use the sponge to gently work on the stains and buildup then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Step 4: Tackle the Edges and Hardware
Don’t forget the edges and metal hardware! The cleaner works wonders on faucets and other fixtures too, making them shine.

Step 5: Seal for Lasting Protection
Lastly, finish with a ceramic coating spray to create a protective layer. This helps water bead off, reducing future buildup and making the doors and fixtures easier to clean going forward. I think you’ll find that the door stays clean so much longer and when it does get dirty again it wipes clean easily and you shouldn’t really have to do a deep thorough scrub for a while if at all.
Pro Tip: Another useful tool for keeping glass shower doors clean is a squeegee. I recommend squeegeeing the doors after every shower. It becomes a habit, only takes a few seconds but really helps keep the doors clean longer and cuts down on buildup.
