So to make sure you and your home are being well cared for in the process of cleaning house here’s some cleaning tips for what to NOT do when that cleaning motivation hits.

It’s one of the top questions I get asked.....

What are some safe options if I have to buy from the store?
⠀
Truth is it is easier to make safe swaps when we can order online or have several types of stores nearby but the reality is sometimes, if we travel and don’t have time to order online or our typical stores aren’t nearby, we don’t have the options.
⠀
So I started with Target and compiled a list of options. Most are good ones you can use all the time, but there are a few that are merely the lesser of the evils and that still have some bad ingredients, just fewer than the rest.
⠀
As I say, do what you can when you can. If less bad ingredients in your home, cleaning or personal products is all you can do then do that.
⠀
👉🏻 No harmful ingredients is ideal but fewer harmful ingredients is still an improvement.
⠀
And when all else fails don’t forget that you can make your own healthy recipes (see slides for some ideas).

Parents, if you’re looking for some healthy alternatives to your kids snacks or just some better products for your kids and babies here’s a round up of some easy swaps to start with.
⠀
Of course this is not all of them but they are some of the more popular options you can find in stores or online.
⠀
When it comes to items for little ones (or adults too) some things I look for are:
• Dye free (for example in medications)
• no artificial colors, flavors, preservatives or sweeteners when possible with snacks (I’m not perfect with this but make as many good choices as I can)
• no high fructose corn syrup or MSG
• no plastic or melamine when possible with dishes
• no parabens, sulfates, fragrance, Methylisothiazolinone, sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate
• no ingredients with colorants like red40 or words starting with PEG

This is of course not the entire list of ingredients to watch but they are some of the most popular.
⠀
And with the medication slide of course always consult your doctor.
⠀
Remember the goal is not perfection, but instead instill as many swaps and healthy habits as possible where you can, when you can.

Between our skincare routine, makeup and other bath and beauty products, we women are potentially exposed to a lot of harmful chemicals.

All the more reason to swap as many as you can to safer, cleaner options. We won’t be perfect 100% of the time but the more changes we can make the less exposure we will face.

One of the most asked questions I get when people are looking to make some healthy habits and swap out their bath or beauty products is for body lotion!
⠀
Lotions can often be filled with toxic ingredients and because it’s something we use often and all over our body, it’s a great swap to start with in your natural living journey.

The good news....there’s a lot of options out there making a healthy choice easier.
⠀
