How to Care for Cutting Boards
Never put wood boards in the dishwasher as it can damage them, Hand washing with soap and water is best.
Plastic boards can go in the dishwasher but risk getting warped.
Boards with lots of cuts can harbor bacteria so replace if too worn.
To deodorize, sprinkle with salt and scrub with half a lemon.
Other options are baking soda and lemon or 4 parts water with 1 part vinegar.
Wipe with peroxide and let sit for 10 minutes then rinse with cold water.
Wipe wooden boards with a food grade mineral oil once a month to prevent drying and cracking.
Conditioning really maintains the quality of wooden boards.
